China is in sad financial and demographic shape. I hope it doesn't launch a much bigger navy because it will be costly to maintain. The authoritarian Soviet Union had high rates of GNP growth - until it didn't. Colonel Douglas MacGregor said about China in the video: "China has huge problems just holding itself together.
