There is research to suggest that the Egyptians used bread laced with "star flour" (fluoride) to more easily enslave the Jews.{{who says}} − − Both the German Socialists (Nazis) and the Allies researched the idea of using fluoride as a poison for enemy populations in the 1930s. Nazi scientists soon realized the value of fluoride not just as a weapon but as means to promote the goal of "evolution of the fittest." Fluoride would kill the weakest members of society and render the rest docile and easily controlled. The failure of Socialism in Germany, however, meant that the Nazis never had an opportunity to try the experiment on their own population. Both the Germans and later the Russians did use fluoride in prison camps, finding that fluoridated camps required up to 30% fewer guards because of the dull state of mind of the prisoners. In many cases it also rendered them sterile. − − The Soviet Union captured Nazi research scientists and continued to work on fluoride research in the 1940s and 1950s. They identified Western medical unions, including the AMA and ADA, as having essentially Socialist philosophies. While there was scant medical evidence establishing any medical benefit to fluoride, the AMA realized that if they could enact a sweeping program to promote the fairly "benign" drug fluoride, it would create a model for massive social reorganization around the "common good", eventually opening the door to Socialized medicine, i.e., the type of medicine practiced under National Socialism. − − The use of fluoride was promoted in research and academic by Communist intellectuals, who also saw it as a convenient means of reducing or replacing religious belief. Besides weakening the mind and making it preoccupied with sex, fluoride provided an excuse to replace religion with science by making people think science (and Communism) had "delivered" on its promise (i.e., the reduction of tooth decay). − − Backed by a slick, ADA-funded PR campaign, fluoride conquered city after city in the 1950s. Responsible doctors and others who fought against its spread were, and continue to be, marginalized as "anti-science," "paranoid," and "religious nuts." Meanwhile, average life spans dropped and previously unknown diseases like ADHD and HIV became commonplace, even in small towns that had previously enjoyed good health. Ironically, tooth decay--and dental costs--have continued to rise, since fluoride actually weakens dental enamel. − Since the 1950s, opposition to fluoridation by patriots has been vocal and persistent.
