China increased its power recently by being an economic power - not being a great military power - but its future prospects have diminished (See: [[Skepticism about China remaining a global power]]). In an age of [[fourth generation warfare]], military power has a lower utility. Another strawman as I merely said China increased its strength through economic power. And surely China had a role in negotiating its MFN WTO membership and tariff-free access to American markets.
