Two of the most famous Gauls in history are none other than Asterix and Obelix.  Their escapades have been widely documented in French literature and their successes are taught in primary schools around the world.  Both Asterix and Obelix nearly single-handedly fought off the Roman invasion of Gaul and in particular the region of their town.  Their town chief, Vitalstatistix bestowed many medals of commendation on them throughout their long life.
