In thew bible, the [[horse]] is the animal of [[war]]. The language and idioms of horse culture exists in all languages, and will not be easily replaced by a century or two modern rail and auto transportation. But it necessary in modern world to give context to some of these idioms
The ''Stechschritt'' (similar to stretch strut in English) is meant to stretch the muscles and tendons of the leg for horseback riding. Good muscle tone in the leg as is necessary for good horseback riding, and not just to give oneself "a leg up".
