Francisco Vasquez de Coronado (1510-1554) was a Spanish conquistador who explored the Unitied States from 1540 to 1542 in the Southwestern region. He searched for the legendary cities of Cibola. Something of note would be that he and his companions were the first Europeans to see the Grand Canyon.
