The '''Anglo-Scottish border''' separates [[England]] and [[Scotland]], two constituent countries of the United Kingdom. At around 100 miles long, the border stretches from Marshal Meadows Bay, just north of Berwick-upon-Tweed on the North Sea coast in the east, to the Solway Firth in the west. Although the area's political status has been ever-changing for much of the past 2000 years, being a frontier long before the nations of England or Scotland came to exist, the geographical border of England and Scotland has changed little since the signing of the Treaty of York in 1237.

By far the busiest vehicle crossing on the Anglo-Scottish border is that on the [[A74(M) motorway]] at Gretna (10 miles north of Carlisle), which links the M6 motorway for the North West and Midlands of England to the M74 for the Glasgow built-up area. The A1 road runs parallel to the east coast, crossing the border just north of Berwick-upon-Tweed, forms the traditional route between London and Edinburgh.
