The Central Lowlands are a natural region of southern and central Scotland. Compared to the hill ranges of the Southern Uplands and the rugged mountains that occupy much of the Scottish Highlands, the Central Lowlands, which occupy a rift valley between the two, are comparatively low-lying. However, some more mountainous areas such as the Campsie Fells are also found in the region.

Owing to the Central Lowlands being the most fertile and low-lying region of Scotland, it is also the most densely populated with around 75% of Scotland's population being found in the region. Scotland's capital Edinburgh and it's largest city Glasgow both lie in the Central Lowlands. Broadly-speaking, the region comprises the Lothians, Fife, Clackmannanshire, Kinross-shire, Renfrewshire, as well as parts of Lanarkshire, Stirlingshire, Dunbartonshire, and even smaller parts of Perthshire and Angus.
