The highest point in the range is Merrick, whose summit is 2,766 ft above sea level (843 m), which is well-known partially for having the longest known possible line of sight in the United Kingdom, with [[Snowdon]] in Wales (144 miles away) being visible, albeit very occasionally.

Parts of the English county [[Northumberland]] may also be included.
