When you say "Samaritans such as John", this is using circular reasoning as far as whether John was a Samaritan which is also known as [https://www.txst.edu/philosophy/resources/fallacy-definitions/begging-the-question.html Begging the question]).
The burden of proof is always upon the claimant. For example, if one claims, "Conservatives don't believe in the theory of relativity", you have to provide a reasonable amount of conservatives indicating disbelief in the theory of relativity for others to accept your claim that conservatives reject the theory of relativity.
