In 1 Corinthians, the [[Saint Paul|Apostle Paul]] calls all Christian believers “saints”: “To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours.”  In Eephesians 1:1-2 the Apostle writes: "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and care faithful1 in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." (ESV version of the Bible). So Protestants argue that it appears as if all faithful Christians are saints.
