On 8 February 2025, Gwynne was sacked as Health Secretary and had his membership of the Labour Party suspended due to white supremacist, antisemitic and sexist comments he made on a ''WhatsApp'' group. The messages were shared with Labour politicians and councilors in a group called "Trigger Me Timbers". Gwynne made a racist joke about fellow Labour MP [[Diane Abbott]], the first ever Black Woman to speak at Prime Minister's Questions in 1990; when this milestone was discussed in the group, Gwynne made fun of it, saying "because it's [[Black History Month]], apparently". Bishop Desmond Jadoo, director of the Windrush National Organisation, condemned the remarks, saying: "These comments have racial connotations that have no place in our society." Gwynne also mocked his own constituents, including an elderly voter who wrote about bin collections after not voting Labour, Gwynne said of the 72-year old: "Dear resident, F*** your bins. I'm re-elected and without your vote. Screw you. PS: Hopefully you'll have croaked it by the all-outs."<ref>[https://www.gbnews.com/politics/labour-minister-andrew-gwynne-sacked-suspended-whatsapp-messages Keir Starmer SACKS Labour health minister after vile WhatsApp messages exposed]</ref>
