Some people do not believe that Derek Chauvin received a fair trial. I count myself among that number.

To demonstrate the sheer futility of trying to have a conversation with some people whose brains are embalmed with ignorance, stubbornness, and stupidity, I will try to thumbnail a telephone conversation I had with someone who called me up to tell me what a bad guy Derek Chauvin was during Chauvin's trial.

The caller alleged, which I have no reason to doubt, that a few years back he was in Minneapolis on business and evidently was staying in or near Derek Chauvin's beat. Chauvin was alleged to have accosted him once or twice, as I recall, which I believe is entirely plausible. The caller claimed, the first time was for J-walking, and the second time was at a convenience store after dark about 10 o'clock at night in a high crime area. These he alleged were proof positive that Chauvin was a bad guy with no respect for other people's rights.

Why the caller called me with this information, I have no idea; possibly cause I may have voiced criticism of the trial in CP. But evidently, I was suppose to agree with him, based upon his word, that Chauvin was not only just a bad guy, but a bad guy toward white people, as well.

I attempted to point out, that in police work, what is considered good police work in an assigned area is for the cop to familiarize himself with the people living in the area he is assigned to, and the people he is suppose to protect - routine police work, rather than sitting on their butt and paying no attention to what is happening on their beat; and when a strange face shows up in a high crime, drug infested area (particularly from out-of-state, as allegedly, as I recall, the "victim" in this case was carded and ID'd with an out-of-state driver license when busted earlier for J-walking) after dark at a known drug trafficking location. "NO! NO! NO!", he began screaming into the phone, he didn't want to hear anymore of it. His lawbreaking for J-walking was entirely justified, and Chauvin had violated his rights by busting him, ID'ing him, and not writing him a ticket for the violation. Chauvin was a bad guy, even to white people, and that was that. I was suppose to agree with him, and that was that.

Needless to say, even though he never allowed me to finish my spiel about what is considered "good police work" because of his screaming at me on the phone, I began to doubt if live phone contact was any more rational than interacting with him on the internet. <small>Disclosure: I have a brother who lives three blocks from where the George Floyd incident took place, and I myself in the 1980s lived briefly behind the Cub Food Store that was burnt down in the riots. The police precinct station that was burnt down was in that immediate vicinity as well, but I think it must've been built many years after I left. So I am well enough familiar with the area of Chauvin's beat, and where the caller was accosted by Chauvin twice.RobSGive Peace a Chance! 18:30, August 21, 2023 (EDT)</small>
::I was never accosted by the now ex-policeman Derek Chauvin and the accuracy of the other material above was also poor (Likely intentionally poor in some instances or in some cases the result of poor listening skills). I did go to convenience store after midnight (Sometimes I returned from work late due to interstate travel and perhaps this was one of those times). Chauvin said to me inside the convenience store, "Kind of late to be out isn't?". I politely and assertively told him, "No.". By the way, last time I checked, convenience stores are lawful businesses that often operate past midnight! Chauvin was very fortunate that I sometimes worked late as policemen are paid out of taxes!

::Also, at the time I was questioned by Derek Chauvin, I was a top 10% performer for an independent contractor position I did for a national company. That is why the president of the company asked me to stop by his office when I was working in his state as I made him a lot of money. Sometimes being a top performer requires one to work late. Apparently, Chauvin is not aware of this, despite working as a policeman where "collars" are often done past midnight! Well, Chauvin has plenty of time now to reflect on the fact that the United States is not a police state because Chauvin is in prison! On the other hand, I am as free as a bird!

::Lastly, upon further reflection, when Chauvin asked me, "Kind of late to be out?", I shouldn't have given him a polite, brief, and assertive "no". God bless America. God bless the Bill of Rights. And thank God for the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I should have decided to ignore him and remain silent. :::By the way, I have a person in my family who was a highly ranked police offer. He told me that Derek Chauvin could have done a much better job as far as his arrest of George Floyd as far as his use of force. And a jury of his peers convicted Derek Chauvin. While I believe the trial was not perfect, I believe my relative was correct and he should know as he supervised many police officers and had a lot of collars in a high crime area of the city he was a policeman in. ::::If you weren't hanging out in a high crime area past midnite in Minneapolis, after the cop knew you weren't a resident of the neighborhood it was his duty to protect, you wouldn't have had a run in with him.

:::::Was I hanging out in a high crime area or was a simply making a quick visit to a convenience store after my workday? And I didn't have a "run in" with him at the time. ::::::According to you, you had 2 encounters with him on his beat, defending the people he was sworn to protect. You were an out-of-towner. Given your multiple errant reporting of the events above (Some of which I believe was intentional), I have no intention of wasting time correcting all your errant reporting or comment on it further. The bottom line is that Chauvin is in jail and I am not! Also, you are the frequent yeller on phone calls and I am not! I will never talk to you on the phone again.

By the way, I trust my relative who was a highly ranked police officer about the poor conduct of Derek Chauvin (Chauvin had several reports of his bad behavior in his file before the George Floyd incident) over someone who praises the authoritarian/corrupt countries of China and Russia. Conservative (talk) 14:52, January 26, 2025 (EST)
:You can clarify matters now. Did you have 2 encounters with Chauvin, one for J-walking (in which he ID'd you as a nonresident out-of-towner and mercifully did not write a ticket) and a second encounter after midnite in a location the entire planet now knows to be a high crime, drug trafficking area? ::::Was the convenience store in a high-crime area? If it was such a high-crime area, then why was Derek Chauvin wasting his time asking a lawful convenience store customer if he thought it was too late to be out? A real cop would have been looking for actual criminals! Chauvin was a bad cop who thought we live in a police state and now he is in jail! Case closed! The jury has made its ruling! It is important for policeman to defend lawful businesses in their area - not needlessly hassle their lawful customers. :::::Yah, that was something I was just thinking about, too. Given the nature of the offense, a pardon is not off the table at the end of Trump's second term. Leonard Peltier, at the age of 80, sentence was just commuted by Biden for killing 2 FBI agents.

:::::Then we also have the case of Snowden, who didn't kill anybody. The leader of Ukraine is a Jew. Putin used the Wagner Group during the war in Ukraine. One of the primary leaders of the group (who has a Nazi swastika on his neck) picked the name Wagner Group because the composer Richard Wagner was an anti-semite.

One of the big reasons that Putin invaded Ukraine was NOT denazification. Russia has recently had a big neo-nazi problem.

Case closed on the editor's vindictiveness
I believe the evidence presented here leads any rational, independent persons to conclude the editor in question maintains, as of January 2025, a vindictive attitude toward Mr. Derek Chauvin simply because he, Chauvin, in performance of his law enforcement duties ID'd the editor for J-walking (even though Chauvin did not cite the offender) but more importantly for asking him, "A little late to be out?" at a convenience store in a high crime area.

Personally, rather than plead the 5th Amendment when interrogated by Chauvin at a known drug trafficking location, I would have responded simply, "Yes. It's scary". RobSThe Truth. Just Putin It Out There 15:51, January 26, 2025 (EST)
