The AK murdered Jews mercilessly and even after the liberation continued to murder Jews. The unit of Brojde also helped with food and shelter for refugees.  Over time Broida was appointed commander in the Jewish unit.  The "Jewish unit" received marks of excellence from the Soviets.<ref name/massuah>
