‘Starvation’ in Gaza.

In the Middle East, war is conducted not only with bullets and missiles, but also with pictures. The latest are pictures of allegedly starving children in Gaza distributed by Hamas and its enablers with the intention of blaming Israel for delaying, even denying entry of food trucks into the strip.

Such pictures are gobbled up and distributed to the world without question by media that are always critical of Israel and hardly critical at all of forces that seek to destroy the Jewish state.
 +
 +
Perhaps no nation in history has cared about preserving human life more than modern Israel. It even treats its wounded enemies in Israeli hospitals. It releases hundreds of convicted terrorists in exchange for a handful of captured Israeli soldiers. It distributes leaflets and makes phone calls urging civilians to evacuate areas inhabited by Hamas terrorists before those areas are attacked. What other nation does that?

The New York Post reports “Col. Abdullah Halabi, from the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, told reporters last week that around 1,000 truckloads of aid remain undelivered ‘due to a lack of cooperation from the international community and international organizations.'” Predictably, others are blaming Israel, which plays into Hamas’ hands.

The problem for Israel is that it has defeated Hamas, but Hamas won’t surrender. The terrorist organization is the main impediment to getting food to those who need it, but the seeds of today’s disaster began in 2005 when Israel unilaterally disengaged from the Gaza Strip by dismantling all 21 of its remaining settlements. It didn’t take a prophet to predict the vacuum would soon be filled by terrorists eager to use Gaza as a base for attacking Israel.

What followed was this:

– Gazans stupidly elected Hamas as their government. They are now reaping what they sowed.
 +
 +
– Hamas began preparing tunnels and placing missiles in civilian areas like schools and hospitals so when Israel responded to their attacks they would show video of civilians being killed or injured to international media.
 +
 +
– On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas murdered Israeli civilians at a music concert and took hostages, some of whom are dead, a few released and an estimated 50 remain in their hands.
 +
 +
– Hamas has stolen food and prevented supplies from reaching the needy.
 +
 +
Pictures and the narrative that accompanies them can be manipulated to serve the ends of Hamas. Two examples: A widely circulated photo shows a young boy held by what appears to be his mother. The child’s emaciated condition was initially portrayed as the result of starvation. Newsweek and The New York Post investigated and discovered that the boy, identified only as Muhammad, also suffers from conditions like cerebral palsy, hypoxemia and a genetic disorder. His malnutrition may be exacerbated by the war, but it does not appear to be the sole cause of his condition.

Another child, identified as Osama al-Raqab, suffers from cystic fibrosis and was receiving care in Italy after he was evacuated from Gaza. His picture was also widely distributed with starvation blamed as the cause. These cases don’t excuse the food shortages many are experiencing in Gaza, but they add perspective and should emphasize, if the media were doing their job, where the real blame lies.

Scenarios like this have been played out so often over decades you might think the media and governments that always seem to take the side of Israel’s enemies would have figured it out by now. It leads one to question whose side they are on. Given their statements, boycotts and slanted news coverage, it seems clear they are on the side of Israel’s enemies.

Some media, however, reported the story accurately. The UK’s Telegraph ran the headline, “Israel Kills Al Jazeera Journalist Accused of Leading Hamas Terror Cell”, and cited the IDF’s statement that “a press badge does not grant immunity for terrorism.” Germany’s Bild went further, publishing: “Terrorist Disguised as Journalist Killed in Gaza” and detailing his operational role in Hamas.

The bigger picture.
 +

This is not the first time a Hamas operative has been embedded in media organizations in Gaza. Israeli intelligence has repeatedly revealed cases where individuals holding press credentials were directly involved in terrorist activities — from coordinating attacks to serving as lookouts for Hamas cells. In some cases, media gear and press vehicles have been used to transport weapons or fighters.

The IDF has emphasized that while Israel respects the role of legitimate journalists, it will not allow Hamas to use the press as a shield for terrorism. “A press badge does not grant immunity for terrorism,” an IDF spokesperson reiterated.

The stark difference between outlets that reported al-Sharif’s true identity and those that repeated Hamas talking points underscores a wider problem: much of the global narrative on Gaza is shaped by sources with clear political agendas. When newsrooms ignore or downplay documented terror affiliations, they risk turning propaganda into “fact” — and erasing the line between journalism and jihad.

At the end of July, I and others reported that according to UN figures, some 85% of aid to Gaza - by weight - was being stolen by armed gangs, Hamas or "hungry people."
 +
 +
Unusually, the story actually was picked up and published by various media outlets.
 +
 +
So one would expect the UN would have done something to better protect these shipments, right?
 +
 +
On the contrary. The problem is getting worse.
 +
 +
While the NGOs are starting to pick up aid that has been sitting at collection points - for the past two weeks, it collected more aid than entered Gaza - the percentage of aid collected that gets looted has been increasing.
 +
 +
According to UNOPS data. for the week ending August 3, 94% of the aid was stolen.
 +
 +
For the week ending August 10, 96% of the aid was stolen.
 +
 +
That's not all that the UN has not been telling us. For the first two weeks in June, 100% of all aid shipments picked up by NGOs to be distributed were looted. That was 838 tons of aid for the week starting June 2, and 4,104 tons for the week of June 9 - every bit of it stolen.
 +
 +
For months, the IDF's COGAT unit has insisted that enough food was being imported into Gaza to feed everyone. For months, the UN insisted that not enough was reaching the people. They were both right - but the UN hid the fact that this was all because of its own incompetence.
 +
 +
And the media treated COGAT like they were the liars.
 +
 +
But this is worse than that. The UN's silence on the aid distribution problem hints at a much darker motive: it prefers that the world attack Israel than ensuring that Gazans get the food they need.
 +
 +
After all, the much criticized Gaza Humanitarian Foundation offered to the UN to secure its aid shipments - and the UN refused. pretending that there was a principle involved in not cooperating with a militarized force. Yet the UN cooperated with Hamas for years.
 +
 +
When the UN insists that more aid is needed, and it knows that nearly all of it will go to Hamas and other armed gangs, it is making a decision to fund Hamas and encourage theft. The NGOs are saying that they prefer the propaganda victory of accusing Israel of withholding food to actually delivering the food that they are responsible for.
 +
 +
The entire point of aid is to give it to those who need it most - women, children, the injured, the poor. The UN and NGOs are making a conscious decision that they prefer a lawless Gaza where the food is stolen and sold only to those who can fund these terrorists, or given freely to those who join terror groups - fighting age men.
 +
 +
These "humanitarians,"  in their hate for Israel, prioritize the anti-Israel "starvation as a weapon of war" and "genocide"  propaganda over helping hungry Gazans.  And the more pressure they put on Israel to increase the amount of aid without doing a thing to secure it, the more they encourage Hamas to steal the aid.

The numbers don't lie. The UN and NGOs are not even trying to ensure that the food they bring in reaches those who need it. They cannot be considered humanitarian when their actions are enabling and rewarding terror, violence, extortion, theft, and keeping food out of the hands of the people who are at the greatest risk.

The UN and NGOs are part of an assembly line to bring in aid and give it to terrorists.

Shlomi Ziv, a former Israeli hostage freed from Gaza in February 2025, publicly condemned Al Jazeera on X for defending Anas Al-Sharif, a Hamas operative killed in an Israeli airstrike on August 10. Ziv, who was abducted during the October 7, 2023, Nova music festival attack, revealed that one of his captors in Gaza operated under the guise of a journalist. “I was held by a journalist in captivity and his father was a Doctor!!!!!!!!” Ziv wrote, highlighting how Hamas members use civilian professions to mask their terrorist activities.

Three former Israeli hostages rescued in a daring Israel Defense Forces raid last year are suing a US non-profit that employed the Hamas terrorist who held them captive for more than 200 days.

Former hostages Shlomi Ziv and Andrey Kozlov have signed on as plaintiffs to a lawsuit filed in Seattle federal court last year by fellow hostage Almog Meir Jan, The Post has learned.

The new filing against the Olympia, Washington-based nonprofit People Media Project and its sister website Palestine Chronicle, contains more details of the terrorist, Abdallah Aljamal, who had worked for the media organization and was killed in the raid.

His social media posts include a photograph of his young son wearing a Hamas headband and a graphic that is the symbol for Hamas’ internal security bureau.

In one instance, Aljamal posted a “blessing” on TikTok at 5:43 a.m. on Oct. 7, 2023, moments before the Hamas attack on Israel that left 1,200 Israelis dead and 251 taken hostage, according to court filings.

Following the Hamas attack, “Aljamal’s propaganda in the Palestine Chronicle increased exponentially, often publishing two to three pieces per day, even as the Hamas operative held plaintiffs hostage in violation of international law,” court filings say.

The lawsuit also claims Ramzy Baroud, the US-based editor of the Palestine Chronicle and a defendant in the case had to know Aljamal was working for Hamas and harboring the captives while also still writing for the news service.

The lawsuit claims the defendants “knew that Aljamal’s…propaganda could only be made with direct and substantial contacts with other Hamas terrorists providing him information to publish, power for his electronic devices, and Internet access for transmission of materials and communications.”

Israel on Tuesday released a report it says refutes claims of starvation in Gaza in an organized media campaign. According to the report written by the IDF Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Hamas has been attempting to spread a false narrative to disparage Israel in the eyes of the world.

The report claims that there is are significant inconsistencies between the number of hunger-related deaths in Gaza and the actual figures documented and identified, including on social media.

Since early in July and while negotiations for a ceasefire were being held, Hamas claimed an increasing number of deaths linked to malnutrition. Until June, Hamas had reported 66 cases since the start of the war, but just one month later, it said 133 had died because of a lack of food.

Despite the reported rise in such cases, Hamas provided no identifying information about the deceased, as it had done previously. On July 19, for example, Hamas claimed 18 people died of malnutrition and on July 22, the terror group claimed 15 more had died.

But a review of social media posts revealed only a small number of deaths that could be tied to hunger. This discrepancy casts doubt on the credibility of the Hamas claims.

An Israeli probe into the cases revealed that most of the deceased had suffered from pre-existing medical conditions that had nothing to do with food shortages. Some of them had even been treated in Israeli hospitals before the war.

The report says Hamas has falsely claimed that 4-year-old Abdullah Hani Mahmad Abu Zarka, whose photo had been circulating on social media in recent weeks, was suffering from starvation, but an investigation by COGAT revealed he was suffering from a hereditary genetic disorder as were other members of his family and had left the Strip with his mother to receive treatment in Jerusalem's Al-Makassed hospital, four months before the war.

Another example presented in the report was the death of 27-year-old Karim Khaled Aljamayal, who Hamas said died of starvation. The investigation revealed he had been suffering from a degenerative muscular disorder since early childhood and was paralyzed.  His death the report claims, had nothing to do with the alleged famine in the Strip.
