On 26 March 2024, Ukrainian [[dictator]] [[Volodymyr Zelensky]] appointed Lytvynenko as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, succeeding [[Oleksiy Danilov]] who was fired for publicly making [[racist]] statements about [[Chinese]]. In 2025 Lytvynenko was replaced by [[Rustem Umerov]].
