Alabama's [[Alabama Constitution|Constitution]] was adopted in 1901 and substantially recompiled in 2022.  It is notorious for his length (longer than the oft-amended [[California Constitution]], and the also fairly long [[Texas Constitution]]) and centralization of government control at the state level; cities and counties have little authority (as an example, 37 entire pages are devoted to matters solely involving Mobile County) and even minor changes require either unanimous consent of the Legislature, or else the issue is up for vote statewide (thus, an issue affecting [[Mobile, Alabama|Mobile]] can be voted down by residents of the state's other major metropolitan areas).  Prior to the 2022 recompilation it also contained odd provisions (such as how to annex foreign territory) and racist ones (such as prohibiting interracial marriage).
