NSAID
'''Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs''' ('''NSAID'''s) are [[drug]]s that relieve inflammation, fever, and often have [[analgesic]] properties. The prominent groups of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are salicylates, including [[aspirin]], Arylalkanoic acids, 2-Arylpropionic acids, including ibuprofen, N-Arylanthranilic acids, pyrazolidine derivatives, oxicams, and COX-2 Inhibitors.

The two primary [[adverse drug reactions]] of these drugs are irritation to the [[gastrointestinal tract]] and [[kidney]]s. In 1991 Daniel L. Simmons at [[Brigham Young University]] discovered COX-2 which was thought to be effective as an NSAID without gastrointestinal irritation, but little evidence of this exists.
