==Heads up==
When you block a username or account, you also are blocking the IP. For example, a student blocked while using a school IP also gets the school IP blocked for the same duration. For this reason we want to avoid lengthy blocks, particularly infinite, cause it only creates more work later which has to be undone. Even 5-year blocks, unless you can pretty well determine that the user/abuser is operating from home with their own IP.
Typically, a six month or 1 year block handles the problem of an abuser without creating too much of an unnecessary burden on ourselves or innocent 3rd parties.
