Ibrahim Sharara
On Nov 7, 2026, the U.S. State Department has declared Lebanon’s Consul General in Detroit, Ibrahim Sharara, persona non grata, ordering him to leave the United States by next day.
The decision follows a report highlighting social media posts attributed to Sharara in which he praised the Hezbollah 1983 Beirut Marine barracks bombing, which killed 241 American servicemen.
The same report also highlighted Sharara’s participation in an Arab-American community event in Michigan attended by Abdul El-Sayed.
