Tombaugh had an interest in [[astronomy]] from a young age. He bought a Sears telescope, but before he was 20, he had built his own because he was unsatisfied with the quality of the Sears one. [http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/StarChild/whos_who_level2/tombaugh.html]
