In [[Genesis]], '''Zilpah''' is Jacob's 4th wife and the handmaiden of [[Leah]]. As part of Rachel and Leah's rivalry, Leah had Jacob marry Zilpah after Rachel had done the same with [[Bilha]]. Jacob and Zilpa have two children, [[Gad]] and [[Asher]].

'''Zilpah''' was the maidservant of [[Leah]] and was given to [[Jacob]] to have children through her after Leah had stopped having sons as was the custom in the ancient mideast at that time.
