The '''Lamian War''' was the name given to the [[Greek]] revolt against [[Macedonian]] rule after the death of [[Alexander the Great]]. [[Demosthenes]] had once again used his great oratory skills to rally the Greeks against Macedon, but the Macedonian army under Antiper crossed the Greeks at two battles, the [[Battle of Crannon]] and the [[Battle of Amorgos]]. Demosthenes took poison and killed himself when the victorious Macedonians invested his home city of Athens.
