Most [[Young-Earth creationists]] hotly contest the Big Bang Theory stating that it is scientifically unsound and also citing the Bible which they believe to be a literal truth, they believe the Universe is far younger than 14 billion years. Instead, they use Biblical lineages to estimate the age of the Earth to be around 6,000 years. In contrast, generally [[Old Earth Creationists|Old Earth Creationists]] and [[Theistic Evolution|Theistic evolutionists]] agree that the Big Bang occured.[http://www.reasons.org/resources/fff/2000issue03/]. Some Old Earth Creationists and Theistic Evolutionists have gone so far as to argue that the Big Bang is in fact mentioned in Genesis and that this can be seen with the proper exegetical techniques.[http://www.geraldschroeder.com/age.html]
