Pascal's wager is a philosophical proposition which takes the following form:

Christianity must be either true or false. If you bet that it's false and that God does not exist, and you are correct, then you will have lived an honest life without fear or regrets.
If it's true, then you've still enjoyed a happy life, but God will show his true colors and punish you for enjoying your freedom for the little time you have it.
But if you bet that Christianity is true, and it turns out to be false, then you will have wasted your life following the rules of a nonexistent father figure, spening it cowering in fear of his nonexistent wrath.
However, if it is true, then your life on earth will still have been a waste, but then you will also spend eternity in hell, since gambling is a cardinal sin in the eyes of God.
