Admiral of the Fleet '''Isoroku Yamamoto''' (1884-1943) was Commander in Chief of the [[Imperial Japanese Navy]] during the early years of the [[Second World War]], and author of the Japanese attack of [[Pearl Harbor]] in 1941, although he personally considered the decision to attack the [[United States]] to be a grave error.

He was killed on 17 April 1943 while on an inspection tour of Japanese positions in the [[Solomon Islands]], when his aircraft was ambushed and shot down by American P-38 Lightning fighters.
