The Low Countries is a term used to denote collectively [[Belgium]], [[Luxembourg]] and the [[Netherlands]]. These countries are also collectively referred to by the term Benelux, coined in 1949 when the Netherlands joined the existing Belgium-Luxembourg [[customs union]].
