President [[George H.W. Bush]] was now up for reelection. He handled things very well in regards to foreign relations, but the economy was slumped due to inflation. Bush had the confidence of the Republican party, which nominated him for reelection. Democrats nominated young Arkansas Governor, [[Bill Clinton]], as their candidate. During the election a wealthy oil-businessman named [[H. Ross Perrot]] also ran as an independant. All candidates campaigned firmly and long. They also appeared in several live televised [[Presidential Debates]]. Finally, when the votes were counted they showed that Clinton had won.
