'''Shimon Peres''' (1923 - ) was the [[Prime Minister]] of [[Israel]] and is the current [[President]] of Israel, a role that is more ceremonial than its United States equivalent.  He has had a long history in Israeli politics, and shared the [[Nobel Peace Prize]] for his role in the [[Oslo Accords]].  Unfortunately, that early promise for peace never materialized.
