The '''Battle of Trafalgar''' was a naval battle fought during the [[Napoleonic Wars]] on October 21, 1805 off the coast of southwestern Spain.  It involved the [[British Royal Navy]] under the command of Admiral Lord [[Horatio Nelson]] against the combined forces of [[France]] and [[Spain]].  The [[British]] won the battle decisively when Nelson crossed his opponent's "T".  The victory reaffirmed Great Britain's place as the top naval power in the world, and forced [[Napoleon]] to abandon his campaign to conquer the British isles.  Britain would not be challenged again for control of the seas during the war.
