:Any contraceptive method, with the exception of the rhythm method and the pill, will reduce the chance of contracting AIDs or other STDs. I agree that that paragraph was just generally wierd and should have been removed, but I think disease prevention is a major positive side effect of almost all forms of contraception and should be mentioned somewhere in the article.
