Thank you, U2, for clarifying the statement about Roosevelt being a New York State
Senator. I apologize if I was not clear on this or accidentally made a mis-statement.
Dear Rob S.,
I make great efforts to ensure my edits are factual and backed up by valid references, but I
am not infallible, or an expert on Political figures by any means (most of my contributions
are about agriculture, geography and historical landmarks).
To term my edit "disinformation" is most dismaying. This would indicate it was an
intentional misrepresentation of a fact with malicious motives. I did not do this and have
never done this. Please feel free to examine any and every of my contributions to
Conservapedia in detail to see this. They are listed on my user page.
I usually do not object to anyone's edits, or get involved in discussions on talk pages. But
Eleanor Roosevelt was an inspiring person and one of my role models. She was very
much a humanitarian, so I was unhappy to see that part removed and statements added
about her that seem very negative. That was why I made the one comment on this talk page about her being a humanitarian.
An example: you added: ''"She writes that her father was a drunkard and died in a sanitarium."'' There must have been more to her father than that, he must have had some good points.
Another example: you wrote: ''"To counter criticism of Mrs. Roosevelt's outside earnings while First Lady she cultivated an image as patriotic with an interest in social causes and helping the underprivileged."'' I really don't think she "cultivated an image to counter criticism" I believe her activities were because she truly cared about humanitarian causes. Long before she married Mr. Roosevelt and was in the public eye, she often donated her time to humanitarian and patriotic organizations, including the United States Navy. I am just saddened that the page seems very critical of Mrs Roosevelt.
I am also not pleased that you called my edit "disinformation". I had no idea what that word even meant until I looked up the definition at Dictionary.com :
"disinformation":
1. False information, about a country's military strength or plans, publicly announced or
planted in the news media, esp. of other countries.
2. Deliberately misleading information announced publicly or leaked by a government or
especially by an intelligence agency in order to influence public opinion or the government
in another nation.
3. Misinformation that is deliberately disseminated in order to influence or confuse rivals
(foreign enemies or business competitors etc.)
Good Heavens - I hardly think any of these apply to me!
I would like to say that I admire your work for Conservapedia, I see you are a frequent
contributor. We all need to help this wiki grow and become a useful and reliable reference. That is why I think that Eleanor Roosevelt deserves a well rounded article which includes her
humanitarian activities. Just my opinion, thank you for considering my viewpoint.
