'''Laura Nyro''' (October 18, 1947 – April 8, 1997) was an [[American]] composer, lyricist, singer, and pianist.
Despite writing many hit songs for the likes of [[Blood Sweat and Tears]], [[The 5th Dimension]], [[Peter Paul and Mary]] and [[Three Dog Night]], her greatest hit as a recording artist was a cover of "Up on the Roof". Her best song is arguably "Stoned Soul Picnic".
She was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
