The term '''Parthian shot''' refers literally to the practice among the soldiers of [[Parthia]] of firing arrows at the enemy while retreating, intending no further battle and hoping that the shot will prove successfully fatal. In debates, it refers to a (often sarcastic) remark made just before one of the participants leaves, intended to worsen their opponents position.
