After his 111th birthday party, Bilbo used a magic ring (Found in his adventure in ''The Hobbit'') to disappear from his guests, before beginning his travels again. In his absence, Frodo received his inheritance of Bag End, Bilbo's possessions and finances, as well as The Ring.

Through much of the beginning of his life, he lived a quiet life in Hobbiton, a hobbit villiage. ''The Hobbit'' is the story of how he along with 12 dwarves and a wizard went on a difficult adventure and killed the dragon Smaug. A key point is this adventure was when Bilbo found a magic ring which could make him turn invisible.
