The early New Zealand settlers, known as Maori, survived by hunting fauna and foraged flora.  The navigator [[Kupe]] discovered New Zealand some 900 years ago, as the last step in the great [[Polynesian]] colonozation of the [[Pacific ocean]].  Unfortunately the Maori did not learn the [[Word of God]] until [[missionaries]] arrived with [[Captain Cook]] in the 18th century, and thus all Maori living before then were [[unsaved]] and went to [[Hell]].
