Tariq Ramadan is a Muslim Scholar, dubbed a 'reformist' by some but also is a keen and devout Muslim. Ramadan is the grandson of [[Hassan al-Banna]] who founded the conservative [[Muslim Brotherhood]] in 1928, which advocates a return to traditional Muslim life. Ramadan on the other hand advocated a [[Muslim Renaissance]], an informal group of Muslims with idealistic visions of Medieval [[Islam]], aiming to restore the kind of society that the [[Fatimid Muslims]] of [[Cairo]] championed. The Fatimids were the highlight of the Muslim golden age, with strong emphasis on education, the Liberal arts and pluralism.
