Gravitation is the force which attracts all objects within the [[universe]] to each other <ref>New Oxford American Dictionary, 2nd Edition</ref>. In modern physics it is explained by [[Albert Einstein| Albert Einstein's]] [[theory of general relativity]]. Before general relativity, gravitation was described by [[Issac Newton | Issac Newton's]] [[law of universal gravitation]], which is still useful in most situations.
Gravitation is responsible for the existence of the [[earth]] and [[sun]], without it, none of the [[stars]] or [[planets]] in the universe would exist, and [[life]] on earth would not be possible.
