For those Christians who believe we are approaching the end times, it has been suggested that a current political leader is the actual antichrist. Bill Clinton is the most commonly referenced example due to his foreign policy in the middle east, interest in international treaties and the UN (signifying his support for a world government), and his apparent ability to survive attacks by his political adversaries<ref>addref</ref>. Suggestions that he may chair the UN if a Democrat is elected in 2008 further supports this idea.
