Northern Ireland is a country north of Ireland.  Although sharing some traits, it has been reported to have on average 27% less Craic than the South.  This has been attributed to North American contributions to terrorists during The Troubles [http://www.ireland.com/article_about_the_IRA.html]

Northern Ireland is a country that is a member of the United Kingdom, which also includes England, Scotland, and Wales.  Geographically, Northern Ireland occupies the northern portion of the island of Ireland, with the Republic of Ireland occupying the remainder of the island.
