Jarvis Green was drafted in the forth round of the [[2002 NFL Draft]] by the [[New England Patriots]]. In his rookie season he started 5 games and played in 14. He recorded his first NFL sack in week one of the 2002 season on [[Monday Night Football]] when he sacked [[Pittsburgh Steelers]] quarterback [[Kordell Stewart]]. The hit caused Stewart to fumble the football and it was recovered by the Patriots... He finished his rookie season with 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks. In 2003 and 2004, Green played in every one of the Patriots regular and postseason games with the Patriots (including 13 starts). His best game during those years came in the [[2003 AFC Championship]] game vs the [[Indianapolis Colts]] when he sacked Colts quarterback [[Payton Manning]] 3 times in a Patriots victory... The 2005 season saw Green set a personal career high for tackles in a season (36) as he became a effective run stopper on the New England defensive line. He missed the last game of the season vs the [[Miami Dolphins]] breaking a playing streak of 61 straight games... In 2006 he played in all 16 of the Patriots regular season games and had his best overall season up to this point in his career. In week four of the 2006 season vs the [[Cincinnati Bengals]] he had 3 sacks, a career high for him in a regular season game. The last time a Patriot player had recorded 3 sacks in a game was in 2003 when [[Mike Vrabel]] had 3 sacks vs the [[Cleveland Browns]]... He ended the 2006 season with 33 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Currently Jarvis is regarded by many NFL pundits to be one of the best pure rushing the quarterback defensive players in the NFL. The Patriots recently extended his contract with the team and he is expected to continue his role as a pass rusher and backup defense end.
