A proverb is a type of [[expression]] that is true to experience in context. A proverb can be a part of a poem, a widespread anecdote, or just an oft-repeated statement.
For example, ''[[Many hands make light work]]'' is a proverb meaning that when a task is broken up, the individual, smaller tasks, are easier to manage. This is in opposition to the proverb ''[[too many cooks spoil the broth]]''. This second proverb means that too many differing approaches can, counterintuitively, slow or halt progress.
