A whole redoing of the article on Chavez, I hope it is somewhat up to scratch, I tryed to keep it as unbias as possible, unlike the last one in which they reffered to Chavez as 'Fidel with Money'
Line 1: Line 1: −
Hugo Chavez is the president of [[Venezuela]].  He was born on July 28, 1954. The young and intimidating Chavez is described as "[[Fidel Castro|Castro]] with money". Though he has been democratically elected, he has made increasing efforts to concentrate government power in himself, and this has only been aided by an opposition boycott of a recent election that gave his party thorough control of the Venezualan legislature. Chavez ha been accused of aiding leftist rebels in Colombia. Chavez is known for voicing strongly anti-American sentiments, and for attempting to convince the people of Venezuela that an American invasion may be imminent (source needed).

Hugo Chávez is the Bolivarian President of [[Venezuela]].  He was born on July 28, 1954. Chávez was elected President in 1998 on promises of aiding Venezuela's poor majority, and was reelected in 2000 and in 2006. Chávez has launched Bolivarian Missions, whose goals are to combat disease, illiteracy, malnutrition, poverty, and other social ills.Chávez openly encourages alternative models of economic development than those of 'United States Capitalism', and has advocated cooperation among the world's poor nations, especially those in Latin America.

Through Venezuala's state owned petroleum industry and membership in [[OPEC]], Chavez who is a [[Marxist]] now has important dictatorial powers in setting oil prices. The United States relies heavily on Venezualan imports of crude oilChavez has stated publicly he beleives $60 per barrel of crude oil is an appropriate price.  American consumers ultimatley shoulder the burden of this "democratic socialism" in higher prices at the pump and lower living standards.

Through Venezuala's state owned petroleum industry and membership in [[OPEC]], Chávez has now used powers granted to him by Parliament to set oil prices at a higher price, stimulating the economy and providing more money for the Bolivarianist projects. Countries such as The United States have criticised Chávez over the increase in cost for crude oil, even though Hugo Chavez cut the price of Crude oil headed for the United States after Hurricane Katrina.

The [[United States of America]] and [[Venezuela]]'s foreign relations at the best of times are unstable. This is understandable seeing as Hugo Chavez continously critisizes the United States for it's 'Imperalism' on his radio segment 'Alo Presidente' and the United States's support of the 2002 coup in Venezuala, toppling Chávez and replacing him with a dictatoral government. (Which was then toppled shortly after by the Chávez supporters, also known as 'Chávistas'). However, Venezuala and the United States remain friendly trading partners when it comes to imports and exports.

Hugo Chávez is a great friend of [[Fidel Castro]] and is said to have drawn his political style through influences such as [[Che Guevara]], [[Karl Marx]] and his most talked about, [[Simon Bolivar]] (Who he named his democratic socialist style after).
