The Cerne Abbas Giant, also known as the Cerne Giant, is a chalk drawing of a man wielding a club upon a hillside in Cerne Abbas, [[Dorset]]. It is the most-visited site in the entire county. The origin and purpose of the man is unknown but it is thought by some experts that he represents the mythical figure of Hercules.
The Cerne Abbas Giant is one of a number of drawings etched onto chalk hills in southern England. The other famous human figure is the [[Long Man of Wilmington]]. There are also several images of horses, including that of the [[White Horse of Uffingham]], Oxfordshire, which is believed to date back to neolithic times.
