The '''Nashville Predators''' are a [[hockey]] team based in [[Nashville]], [[Tennessee]]. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League ([[NHL]]).  The Predators were founded in 1998, although they have not gained a large following.  This lead to the sale of the team to Canadian [[Jim Balsillie]], the co-CEO of [[Research in Motion]] (RIM). The speculation is that if the sale is finalized the team may move the team to southwestern [[Ontario]], possibly [[Hamilton]], although this would require the approval of the NHL Board of Governors and a payment made to the already existing local teams, the [[Toronto]] [[Maple Leafs]] and the [[Buffalo Sabres]].  The Predators currently play at the Sommet Center.

The Predators were sold in late 2007 to a group of local merchants and residents of Nashville, after the sale of the team to Canadian [[Jim Balsillie]], the co-CEO of [[Research in Motion]] (RIM) fell through.   The Predators play at the Sommet Center.
