Line 3: − + − − Many of the world's leading climatologists agree with Al Gore's perspective of global warming being caused by humans. Although warmings and coolings of the Earth's climate has occured naturally in the past, they were very gradual and would generally take thousands and thousands of years. The climate crisis in modern society has only stretched for a period of about 150 years, which is miniscule compared to major climate shifts in the past. This is, no doubt, parellel to mankinds advancements in technology, which have been very recent in comparison to Earth's long history. While many denialists believe that a difference in several degrees is meaningless, it is, in reality, quite the opposite. From recent studies, polar bears have begun to die out from drowning because their icy habitats are melting. Large chunks of ice in the Arctic Circle that have been estimated the size of Delaware have broken off in alarming quantities over the years, and as a result, sea levels are rising. It is estimated in years to come that coastal cities all over the world will be submerged, making Katrina look like a thunderstorm. − − Many major companies, corporations, and websites have already started "green" aids in the fight against the climate crisis, including Google, Myspace, Chevron, Wal-Mart, NBC, and many others. Together, we can end the climate crisis with modern technology and the will to make better lives for future generations. For those who still don't believe in global warming, go buy some beachfront property, and call me in fifty years.

Among registered U.S. voters, opinion is split neatly down the middle, with 75% of Democrats believing that "the science is settled" in favor of Al Gore's view and 73% of Republicans affirming that there is no scientific consensus.
In any event, it is important to remember that public opinion does not change the physical reality. Even if 100% of people of both parties belive in anthropogenic climate change, if the reality is that mankind is not responsible, then public opinion to the contrary does not change that fact. On the other hand, if anthropogenic warming is occurring, then no amount of public denial will cool the climate down again--only positive action will.
In any event, it is important to remember that public opinion does not change the physical reality. Even if 100% of people of both parties belive in anthropogenic climate change, if the reality is that mankind is not responsible, then public opinion to the contrary does not change that fact--and vast amounts of money could be wasted in curbing CO2 emissions when there is no need. On the other hand, if anthropogenic warming is occurring, then no amount of public denial will cool the climate down again--only positive action will.
