Additionally, conservative/liberal are pretty broad terms which I think are greatly overused in the U.S. political landscape. In New Zealand for instance, the leader of our centre-right party is a self-identified agnostic/atheist, and one of our most left-wing parties is led by a staunch Catholic. If anything, I'd say political ideology tends to influence religious character, rather than the other way around.
