The incident resulted in the deaths of nine people: one female adult-student (age 25) five male students (age 16-18) and ; the school principal, Helena Kalmi (age 61); the school nurse (age 43); as well as Pekka-Eric Auvinen himself (age 18), who was also one of the school's students. Only hours before the incident, Auvinen, a [[liberal]] [[atheist]], posted a video on [[YouTube]] predicting the massacre at the school.
