The Indian National Congress is a [[political party]] in [[India]]. It was founded in 1885 by Scotsman, Allan Octavian Hume. In 1947 it became the leading political party of India. Seventy two delegates attended the first meeting held in the December of 1885. In 1907 the party split into two halves. The Garam Dal of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and the Naram Dal of Gopal Krishna Gokhale. Each party had different feelings toward the [[British]], the Garam Dal were more extreme, and the Naram Dal were more [[moderate]]. Today it is lead by Sonia Gandhi.
