Impanation is one of many Protestant theories which denies [[transubstantiation]] of the [[Eucharist]] while holding that some indefinable presence of Christ coexists with the bread and wine. A disciple of [[Martin Luther]], [[Osiander]] (1498-1552), originally taught impanation as part of the [[Reformation]].
